High School Seniors Award

Mathematics Student Recognition Program

The Mathematics Student Recognition Program was created to provide a means for honoring outstanding high school seniors who excel in the study of mathematics.

The award program is a service of NCSM that is provided to NCSM members only. Join NCSM here.

Terms and Conditions

  • High School Eligibility: All public, parochial, and private high schools that have at least one NCSM member in the area.

  • Student Qualifications (to be reviewed in the second semester of the senior year): A graduating senior ranking in the top 10% of the graduating class, who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in high school mathematics.

  • Selection Committee Design: 1) At least one NCSM member or designee; 2) School principal or designee; 3) Guidance counselor; 4) Chairperson of the Mathematics Department.

  • Cost to the School or School District: Framing of the certificate and lettering of the certificate. NCSM will furnish, without charge, a certificate for each awardee.

  • Number of Awards: The number of awards should not exceed two per year per high school.

  • Presentation of Awards: The awards should be given by the NCSM member, NCSM regional director, or member of the NCSM Board of Directors when possible. The award should be given in the spring of the student's senior year, preferable during an awards program when parents are present.

Please indicate the number of high schools and the number of certificates needed. To ensure delivery in time for June graduation, order by May 15 of each school year.
