Strand Descriptions

The 2008 program features 6 topic strands:

Strand 1. Professional Development and Leadership Models to Promote Mathematics Education Leaders: Discuss and share innovative models of professional development which support high quality teaching.
Strand 2. Equity and Access Strategies for Mathematics Education Leaders: Help leaders become familiar with programs, strategies, and materials to ensure equity and access to quality mathematics for every student.
Strand 3. Leaders Engaging Parent and Communities: Share with other leaders, models and programs that engage parents and the broader community.
Strand 4. Technological Innovations in Mathematics Education: Discuss and share with other leaders any state-of-the-art technology and models to improve mathematics instruction.
Strand 5. Supporting Assessments in Mathematics Education: Share models and experiences with assessment techniques, tools, and the use of assessment data to make instructional decisions.
Strand 6. Linking Research and Practice that Promotes Improved Student Achievement: Discuss and share methods to use research for improving student achievement.
